Ahead of MIPCOM 2024, we are delighted to unveil our unmissable highlights of new and returning titles across drama, entertainment and documentaries, plus a raft of impressive panels featuring senior Fremantle executives.
Dishing up a distinctive set of dramas, we’re showcasing Costiera, the sun-soaked series, starring Jesse Williams, set in the Amalfi Coast; Iris, a Fremantle and Sky Studios co-production; Element Pictures’ enigmatic new drama, The Listeners, directed by Janicza Bravo and starring Rebecca Hall; a 4K remastered version of the critically acclaimed series Homicide: Life on the Street; side-splitting comedy Daddy Issues, starring Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey; gripping sleeper train thriller, Nightsleeper; and Penelope, the latest hit drama from Duplass Brothers Productions.
We have a range of brand-new original invigorating formats, including the formidable French investigative reality series, Master of the Game – TF1’s most successful format launch in five years – and action-packed Norwegian competition reality series Heist Academy and The Hiding Game. Also joining the line-up is Denmark’s addictive and binge-worthy social reality series Exposed, and epic adventure reality format The Lost Ones: Ultimate Decision, from Demark. Couple to Throuple, the sensational US dating series, completes the bill.
Our fantastic documentaries slate is made up of Mozart: Rise of a Genius, an unparalleled look into the life of a classical musical sensation; Tsunami: The Wave That Shook the World, Arrow Media’s compelling new series that commemorates the 20th anniversary of the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean Boxing Day Tsunami; 72 Films deliver a no holds barred deep dive into the current Ukrainian Prime Minister in The Zelensky Story; and Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, a Kim Kardashian exec produced docuseries exploring the life of the actress and cultural icon, from Academy Award-winning Passion Pictures.
Kicking off our wide array of expert panels is Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA who, on Monday 21 October, will be discussing recurring drama deals and partnerships in the ‘Drama Across the Board – Production, Acquisitions and Distribution’ session. Later in the day, Jens Richter, CEO, Commercial and International joins the ‘Behind the Screens with Samsung campaign’ panel, exploring the current market, wider trends, and the boom in FAST. And to wrap up the day, our SVP, Global Channels, Laura Florence, features on the Samsung panel ‘Levelling Up: Streaming Success’.
On Tuesday 22 October we have another impressive line-up of speakers, including a roundtable with Laura Florence and Matt Katrosar, SVP, Global Advertising Sales & Strategy on ‘The Next Steps in FAST – enhancing Monetization and Opportunity in 2025 and beyond: Channel Publisher and Advertising Perspectives’; a ‘Branding Funded Programming’ TellyCast livestream featuring Roberta Zamboni, Global Head of Branded Content & Sponsorship, who also joins the ‘Branded Fiction: The subtle art of integrating brands into drama’ panel on Wednesday 23 October. Finishing up our impressive list of talks is SVP, Head of Scripted Commercial, C&I and Global Drama, Rebecca Dundon, who takes a deep dive into budgets on the production-focused panel ‘Go bigger or smaller? Adjusting financing strategy to the changing times’.
We are incredibly proud to have secured nominations at both awards ceremonies; including Freeze at The C21 International Format Awards (20 October) and On the Line: The Richard Williams Story and Fellow Travelers at the MIPCOM Cannes Diversify TV Awards (22 October).
The 40th edition of MIPCOM will take place next week in Cannes, from 21-24 October.
