remantle announced today that it will partner with electronics giant Samsung to bring a dedicated FAST channel, The Jamie Oliver Channel to audiences in the UK. Viewers are now able to watch the British chef’s cooking shows exclusively on the free-to-watch platform, Samsung TV Plus.
The Jamie Oliver Channel will be dedicated to a host of well-known titles from the chef, including fan favourites such as: Jamie’s Quick & Easy, Jamie’s 15 minute meals, Jamie’s Super Food and many others. From 12th October, Samsung TV Plus audiences are able to find the food-focused content on channel number 4425.
The Jamie Oliver Channel is the latest FAST deal that Fremantle has closed with Samsung, having previously partnered with the free-to-watch platform to bring Baywatch, Project Runway, American Idol and America’s Got Talent to UK audiences through dedicated channels.
Jamie Lynn, EVP Co-Production & Distribution, EMEA at Fremantle says: “We’re all excited to be working with Samsung TV Plus to launch a dedicated Jamie Oliver channel. Fremantle has had a nearly 20 year international partnership with Jamie Oliver, but this is the first time we have had the opportunity to work with him in his home market. Jamie is beyond a phenomenon and I know of no other television chef who has remained so vital and so beloved for so long. From revolutionising school dinners, to 15 minute meals, he has genuinely impacted the culture both in and out of the kitchen. Samsung saw the value in bringing 20 years of Jamie programming exclusively to their premium content offering, so it felt like perfect partnership.”
Richard Jakeman, European Head of Business Development – Smart TV, Mobile & Gaming said: “We are thrilled to be bringing Jamie Oliver and his first FAST channel exclusively to the Samsung TV Plus audience in the UK. With the addition of The Jamie Oliver Channel on the Samsung TV Plus service, we are very excited to be strengthening our partnership with Fremantle, following the amazing successes of American Idol, America’s Got Talent, Project Runway as well as the Baywatch channel.”
