STARZPLAY, the international premium streaming platform from STARZ, announced today its partnership with the French National Public Broadcaster FRANCE TÉLÉVISIONS and FREMANTLE, confirming start of principal photography for “Ouija,” a fast-paced, riveting French-language drama from Co-Creators Thomas Bourguignon and Jörg Winger. The series is filming in Nice, France, and its surrounding area, Gorges du Verdon.

“Ouija” is a supernatural coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of a generational saga. The six-episode series focuses on the events of a French-German school exchange in rural France during the 1982 World Cup. With overall themes of life, love and death, “Ouija” tells the riveting story of characters from three generations – one who fought during World War II, one who rebuilt Europe during the Cold War, and one enjoying the peace the prosperity of the 1980s. Together, they embark on a journey of discovery as they investigate a tragedy that took place in this rural village during the summer of 1944.

“Ouija” co-produced by Kwaï and Big Window (part of UFA Fiction) marks the first co-production between the two Fremantle companies. “Ouija” is STARZPLAY’s second French-language co-production. released for first run in Germany and German-speaking Europe including Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg, Spain, the Nordics and second-run distribution in France. The co-production partnership deals between STARZPLAY and FRANCE TÉLÉVISIONS, also Kwaï and Big Window was brokered by Jamie Lynn, Executive Vice President, Co-production and Distribution for Fremantle.
